The annual Columbus area Soap Box Derby was held June 21, 2014. After many hours building cars, and an intense race down the hill to a finish line, winners were announced in several categories: Stock, Super Stock, and Masters. FruhQuip sponsored one of this year’s winning cars in the stock category. The winning stock race driver was Kylee Kirk. At 7 years old she is the youngest driver ever to win in Columbus!
Soap box derby racing is so much more than just letting a car loose to run down a hill. All children learn sportsmanship and a sense of pride and accomplishment throughout the process.
It is also truly a family sport. Parents are not merely spectators as their children compete on a playing field. While the child may be the driver, it also takes car and driver handlers to get the job done. The best part of all is when they cross that finish line. The accomplishment is truly a team event.
FruhQuip is proud to be a partner in the community and a part of kids learning and building confidence through soap box derby racing.
The world finals are in Akron, Ohio on July 26 ,2014. We wish Kylee the best in her race!
